More About Loretta's Tomes & Tealeaves
Our Story
Hi, I'm Lori and Loretta's is my version of the ultimate hang out spot-
comfortable, curious, inviting. A place that can satisfy that need to get away for a bit without going much further than your own backyard.
A place that feels like home but that simultaneously gives you a sense that a new adventure may be waiting to be discovered around each little corner.
Loretta's won't be your typical book store and tea shop. Not only will you be able find new bestsellers you keep hearing about but also those unique literary works, classic favorites and collectible titles you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else.

I really hope to create a fun, whimsical and loving environment for people to enjoy and find comfort in while offering items you may not think to look for but that bring joy to your heart and a smile to your face when you come across them.

Encouraged by my awesome husband Bruce, I decided to launch a website/store until just the right space presents itself for a brick and mortar.
Offering premium The Whistling Kettle loose leaf teas, locally sourced handcrafts, art, and well products, there's something everyone will love!

Born and raised in Saratoga and Washington counties in upstate NY, I was inspired by my time working in the local public library as a clerk and program coordinator to embark on a journey where I could incorporate all of the things that brought me and my family joy and that would allow me to bring some to others as well! Shortly after attending a local library program focusing on starting your own small business, the idea for Loretta's was born.

I currently reside in Wilton, NY in the house my parents built in the 70's with my husband Bruce, our 2 boys, a sassy cat known as "Queen Quartz", and our 2 awesome, goofball dogs, Leia and Lola. I am a self proclaimed tea addict, book and nature lover and aspiring bringer of joy. Finding a way to incorporate the things I'm most passionate about into one small business with lots of big ideas has been a literal dream come true.

A graduate and certified 200hr Yoga Instructor and Social Emotional Learning facilitator from the Breathe for Change initiative, I'm also very excited to bring the practice of Yoga and other well habits to the community. I offer Yoga and meditation classes through my secondary business, Looking Glass Yoga, for people of all ages and abilities. Eventually, along with Yoga offerings, facilitating book signings, hosting book clubs, holding crafting events and classes for adults and children alike, offering educational and fun opportunities and collaborations with other local businesses and groups will be part of the package!

With the help of my two boys, Lucas and Crosby, for the last 4yrs I've also been running a no-cost outdoor adventure group, dubbed TnT Trekkers, that serves as a quite literal OUTlet for children and their adults during the Summer months. Facilitating outdoor education and fun nature-inspired activities helped to satisfy our family's need for getting out and learning while getting dirty. Having fun with peers was the icing on the cake!
Originally started as 'Library Scouts' while I worked as a Program Coordinator at the local library, I saw an excitement and interest among the families I served who enjoyed the time spent learning and exploring new places and decided to bring the program with us to continue it on our own time.

With a fondness for small town, community and collaborations highlighting other local crafters and entrepreneurs, Loretta's is a feeling as much as it is a retail space. We strive to enhance your community experience while bringing a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.
Thank you for visiting!
